Knowledge Production Practices by Multilingual Scholars Across the Disciplines

The project explores the under-researched context of Latin America, more specifically the language practices of multilingual scholars from its largest knowledge producer, Brazil.

Through an unprecedented nationwide large-scale quantitative and qualitative investigation composed of two corpora, we analyze scholars’ written and oral communication praxis, patterns, motivations, and language use across the disciplines. The aim is to inform initiatives for the inclusion of researchers from geolinguistic regions in the global periphery and semi-periphery of knowledge production centers through the locally, continued, and institutionally situated extended support to research writing and communication in English and in other languages potentially used for knowledge internationalization.
