The School of Journalism, Writing, and Media offers undergraduate writing and journalism courses to students across all faculties at UBC.
Our goal is to show how scholars think about the world and how it shapes both their research and how they write. Through our courses, workshops, conferences, as well as our cutting-edge theories on writing and teaching, we help students demystify specific writing situations, including research proposals, presentations, and academic publishing.

WRDS 150 was an eye-opening experience for me as it exposed me to the world of scholarly writing and gave me the opportunity to learn how to coordinate writing styles with the traditions of various scholarly communities. I was able to familiarize myself with the expectations of being a scholar and an academic.
