Prof Alfred Hermida is one of the speakers taking part in the Knight 25th Anniversary Symposium: The Future of Science Journalism, to be held at MIT in Boston, February 18-20 2008. His talk, entitled “Capture the wow: Multimedia story-telling,” will discuss how the web can offer new ways of engaging with audiences.
Prof Hermida will suggest that journalists should capitalize on the interactive and participatory attributes of the Internet to convey the wonder of science. He believes that the Internet offers new ways of reporting and explaining science.
The MIT symposium brings together key leaders in journalism, audience trends and media technology to examine the rapidly changing future of journalism. The event marks the 25th anniversary of MIT’s effort to improve the public’s understanding of science.
