The three-hour workshop held on Sunday, March 21, 2010 is divided into three sections.

These include techniques to improve the efficiency and precision of web and news searches, exploring geographically trending topics on Twitter for insights into the local conversation and harnessing the power of social media as an information filter, using tools to present the news from your network.
In this section, Eric looks at how to steer people to your online content. Learn the basics of how search engines work, how to craft headlines that help your content stand out, and how to use web and social media analytics tools to measure the results of promotional efforts.
In this section, Eric explores how to tell stories with new web tools. Learn how data visualization can help audiences make sense of complex information, how to visualize data and how to use web tools such as Google Docs for distributed data collection from reporters and users.
