The University of British Columbia Graduate School of Journalism seeks to appoint a full-time tenure-track instructor to teach in its innovative graduate program, complementing the School’s core strengths in digital, international, science, environment and public policy journalism as listed on its website: www.journalism.ubc.ca.
Candidates must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Journalism or a related discipline, a minimum of five years experience in teaching at a university level in journalism and/or communications courses at the undergraduate and graduate level (including the supervision of graduate theses), in addition to previous professional experience in journalism specializing in audio storytelling. Candidates are expected to provide high-quality journalism instruction, as well as show potential for contributing to innovation in journalism pedagogy. Candidates should also have experience and knowledge of emerging practices in audio storytelling and the use of audio in multimedia journalism. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of teaching and service, provide pedagogic leadership, and help facilitate the School’s internship program. The School offers concentrations in key areas of journalism, as well as academic specializations across disciplines. This position is subject to final budgetary approval. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
