Dan McKinney is an Emmy Award-winning documentarian who has worked as a director of photography and producer for over a decade. His work for PBS, History Channel and Discovery Channel has taken him around the world.
McKinney has spent the last six years field-producing and teaching the International Reporting Program at the School of Journalism. In 2011 he led a group of students to the Ukraine to investigate access to pain medication and he went to China in 2013 to look at the effects of pollution on children in Beijing.
McKinney has recently branched off into the non-profit world creating web documentaries for eco-friendly companies and institutions. Watch his short doc about the secret life of trees here.
McKinney graduated from UC Berkeley’s school of journalism in 2002 where he specialized in documentary filmmaking.
