UBC Journalism opening for 12-month Assistant Professor



The School of Journalism at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver) invites applications for a limited-term full-time position at the rank of Assistant Professor Without Review to commence August 1, 2018. The appointment is for 12 months.

UBC School of JournalismThe School seeks an individual who will contribute to the intellectual life of the unit through engaging in exceptional teaching, research and service. The successful candidate will have professional and teaching experience in contemporary and emerging fields of journalism, complementing the School’s core strengths in digital, international, environment, Indigenous, and public policy journalism as listed on our website.

Candidates must have a Master’s or PhD degree with relevant research and professional experience. Candidates must have a proven commitment to the advancement of research and practice in the fields of journalism, media and communications. They must demonstrate experience in the highest levels of professional practice, a track record of collaboration, and a strong evidence of research activity commensurate with their experience.

Candidates will demonstrate the ability to teach on a range of courses currently on offer within the School of Journalism and to contribute to areas not currently covered, as well as the ability to participate fully in graduate supervision and undertake service duties as assigned by the director. The teaching load will be four 3-credit courses over the 12-month appointment.
