Canadian journalist Linden MacIntyre shared his insights and expertise with students at the UBC School of Journalism during a visit in March.
Students worked with MacIntyre in class as part of the Integrated Journalism course. He provided feedback on story pitches and video projects.
The veteran journalist also gave a public lecture at the Liu Institute for Global Issues during his time in Vancouver.
“One of the best parts of j-school is getting to meet and interact with the best journalists from around the world,” said second-year student Darryl Hol. “Linden entertained us with stories from his long career and inspired us about the importance of public interest journalism, today more than ever.”
MacIntyre has 50 years of experience working as a journalist in print, radio and television at the CBC and at the Fifth Estate.
His visit was co-sponsored by the UBC School of Journalism and the Centre for Applied Ethics.
MacIntyre’s public talk, “Speaking Truth to Fear,” focused on accountability, propaganda and the role of information and objective analysis of public policy.
