UBC and CBC co-host panel for Asian American Journalists Association visit



In their inaugural visit to Vancouver, the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) will meet with Vancouver journalists and media professionals to discuss issues of diversity and the future of the journalism industry.

UBC and CBC will co-present a panel discussion “New Frontiers: Diversity, new media and journalism’s future in Canada and the U.S.” Panelists will include Winnie Hwo, News Director, Fairchild TV; Joanna Lee Young, Reporter, The Vancouver Sun; Prof. Alfred Hermida, UBC School of Journalism; Sharon Chan, National President, AAJA (to be confirmed); moderated by Alden E. Habacon, Manager of Diversity Initiatives, CBC Television.

A dinner with a roundtable discussion will follow.
