On March 5, Journalists for Human Rights is holding a talk and wine and cheese reception for Darren Fleet (‘10), a UBC Masters of Journalism student and JHR media trainer, who has just returned from Zambia where he worked with the newspaper the Southern Guardian covering election fraud and other topics.
Fleet returned to the Graduate School of Journalism after seven months, and will be discussing his teaching, focusing on journalism ethics and values in a developing world context. He will also discuss his work on the 2009 Zambian presidential election, including journalistic practices in Zambia and the coverage of Southern African politics in general. The presentation will include photos, and will be followed by a question and answer period.
The event takes place Thursday, March 5, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at MASS (Buchanan D).
