Dr. Louis M. Maraj has been recognised for his innovative and exemplary research by the 2024 Fellow’s Early Career Award from the Rhetoric Society of America (RSA).
Dr. Maraj, Asst. Professor, WRDS in JWAM, received the award on May 25 at the RSA Presidential Address and Award Ceremony held in Denver, USA. The Award honors a current RSA member who has established an innovative and robust research record within eight years of completing their doctorate.
“From his intercontextual reading method to his interdisciplinary theoretical work, Dr. Maraj is already changing how scholars approach race, culture, and meaning-making.”
This year the Award Selection Committee reviewed a highly competitive field of nominees and unanimously recognized Dr. Maraj’s body of work for its theoretical sophistication, methodological range, and overall commitment to transforming institutions and providing mentorship.
“We believe his innovative and impactful prose serves as a model to scholars of rhetoric interested in crossing disciplinary boundaries,” the Committee said.
Calling Dr. Maraj’s work “exemplary of the field of Rhetorical Studies”, the Committee also highlighted how his scholarship and professional life embody RSA’s core values.
