RSA 2026 Honourable Mention for the Charles Kneupper Award
Dr. Dadugblor’s article, “That Peace May Unite All: Constitutive Rhetorics and the Rhetorical Construction of the Peaceful Citizen,” has received an Honorable Mention for the 2026 Rhetoric Society of America Charles Kneupper Award winner. The Kneupper Award recognizes the best article published in Rhetoric Society Quarterly for the previous year. The selection committee shared:
Dadugblor’s essay extends constitutive rhetoric into a postcolonial African context, challenging the field’s long-standing theoretical assumptions by showing how “the peaceful citizen” is ideologically constructed rather than given. The committee found that this reframing of constitutive rhetoric beyond its predominantly Western theoretical inheritance makes a timely and necessary contribution that equips rhetorical scholars to analyze the nationalist and ideological formations shaping the current political moment while expanding the discipline’s geographic and conceptual range.
Honourable Mention for the 2026 RSA Book Award
His book Deliberating Ghana: Postcolonial Rhetorics, Culture, and Democracy also received an Honourable Mention for the 2026 Rhetoric Society of America Book Award.
The selection committee reviewed more than forty books. The award subcommittee recognized the book “for its ability to interrogate deliberation in the context of a post-colonial state. It’s a meditation on the culture-bound character of rhetorical deliberation, the after-lives of colonialism, and the possibility of democracy all rolled into one.”
